Its an X reg 1.2 engine fiat punto. She claims she forgot to put in coolant or anti-freeze in it damaged the radiator. So roughly how much inclusive of parts and labour should it cost to repair/replace?
Before you go spending money replacing it check there is no other damage to the coolant system or the engine block. As if the rad has split chances are other things have as well. Antifreeze should be in all year round NOT just in the winter.

hi it sounds as if the head has blown on it take off the oil cap and see if there is some milky scum on the cap if the head has blown it would cost more than the cars worth im guessing an x reg is not too recent as im irish

£100-£200 if you shop around. My micra’s radiator went a few years back and it was £160 as I remember.

you can get a raiator from auto factors for about £100
if you went to a garage it would cost you about £400 inclusive of labour vat etc

You can get a rad. for less than £100 on the net. Fiat charge about £120. Fitting is a doddle, but the fan assembly must be removed first and replaced last. When refilling with coolant there is a bleed screw on one of the heater pipes which disappear through the bulkhead. Also one on the top corner of the rad. You will not be able to reuse the Fiat ‘onetime’ hose clips. Use orange anti-freeze, not blue. It lasts 5 years instead of 3. Labour time at a garage should be well under 2 hours Fiat dealers charge about £85 anhour, a top line independent about £55. Run it with plain water first (as long as it is not freezing!) to check no other damage has occurred. Good Luck!

The radiator isn’t the issue here.A new one will be about £200 fitted, including fresh coolant, but you’d need to find out if any damage has been done to the engine by not having any anti-freeze in it.
Best case scenario is it’s just the radiator, worst case scenario is the engine block has cracked or the cylinder head has warped due to overheating. Not worth fixing if that’s the case.
